Good morning/afternoon/evening! I’m Kamil Rahman-Blake, entering my second year of an International Relations and Politics degree here at the University of Sheffield and honoured to be your SheffMUN 2020 Secretary General. Truth be told, being elected SG was slightly daunting. However, I have drawn strength and confidence from the wonderful secretariat beside me, whose passion, humour and (occasionally scary) commitment to SheffMUN never fails to amaze me. My role is as much about listening as it is leading. I ultimately steady the ship, to ensure the secretariat have not only the resources to complete their tasks effectively but also the support they require to ensure they are happy doing so. I was a delegate at SheffMUN 2019 and had the pleasure of meeting a diverse group of people, with big ideas and even bigger expectations! The conference (hopefully) exceeded those expectations and I look forward to exceeding the new expectations at SheffMUN 2020 - consider this an advanced welcome to the bustling city of the north, Sheffield!

Hi! I’m Lucas and I’m studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Sheffield. I am Portuguese and have started doing MUN on my first year in university. MUN provided me with amazing opportunities, which included not only the places I had the pleasure to visit but also the fantastic people I met. One thing that I love about SheffMUN is the amount of different nationalities present in the conference, which makes it rather unique. As the Deputy Secretary-General, my responsibilities include the management and well being of all secretariat members, which includes delegating tasks and assisting other members of the secretariat. Therefore, it is my responsibility to make sure that tasks are split evenly, according to each secretary’s role, but also to make sure no-one has a heavy workload. I am truly excited to organise SheffMUN and make sure everyone enjoys their time in the conference!
Hi! I’m Abdullah Ahmad, going into my second year of Medicine at the University of Sheffield. My favourite aspect of MUN is making friends with people from all over the UK and the world along with being able to discuss and share fascinating insights into local and topical issues. Everyone has something interesting to say. Every country has something amazing about it. I love travelling, from my exchange programme to Japan to my latest MUN conference in New York and have lived in varying cultures. As SheffMUN 2020’s Undersecretary General for Delegate Affairs, I am excited to work with everyone, both the secretariat and you, the delegates, to make it as great a conference experience for all of you as it was for me when I first started.

Hi! My name is Luciana Verduga and I’m a second year sociology student. Ever since joining MUN I have met so many different people, of a wide range of nationalities and interests. That’s one of the main things I love about it- the cultural exchange and of course the love for debate.
This year I will again take on the role of Social affairs and hope to organize a fun, engaging social so that we can all get to know each other and have a great conference.
Hello everyone, I’m Abdullah AlTahini, of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I am entering my final year of International Relations and Politics at the University of Sheffield, I joined the MUN society in 2019 and discovered my passion. I’ve been to multiple MUN conferences and loved them. However, no conference is perfect and as a challenge-enthusiast, I want to test whether I can actually make a flawless conference. I’m a very social person and eager to meet all of you this December. I think it will be a great experience for both you and me, and it will be a pleasure to meet all of you. Hope you have a great one!

Heya! My name is Margo and I'm entering my second year of Structural Engineering and Architecture here at the University of Sheffield. One thing which SheffMUN makes me proud of is the sense of community and the welcoming environment it creates, while simultaneously allowing every participant to develop academically and intellectually. Having participated in multiple MUN conferences for the past 3 years, I'm incredibly excited to help with the organisation of SheffMUN 2020 as the Media and Marketing Officer. My responsibilities include the upkeep of the website and managing social media posts. I'm looking forward to meeting all the participants of SheffMUN 2020 and looking forward to an interesting and fruitful debate!
Hello, everyone! I’m Philip, and this will be my second year of studying Political Science and International Relations in the University of Sheffield. I come from the little-known island nation of Cyprus, and I’ve lived there all my life until I started my studies here (P.S. I’m also half-Russian from my mother’s side, so I can proudly say I speak 3 languages, and I’m about to finish my fourth). I am also proud of the fact that, over the course of my life, I’ve traveled to several European countries, and have managed to participate in numerous Model EU and Model UN events, which fostered my love for politics and debate so much that I have decided to pursue this as a career. This is my first time in a secretariat, and I hope that we will manage to create an exciting and welcoming atmosphere for everyone attending this conference. I look forward to seeing everyone at the conference!
Hello everybody! I’m Josh, and I study International Relations and Politics at the University of Sheffield, though I spent a year studying Korean and Japanese too. I grew up in North Wales in a working-class family and became interested in politics during high school. Seeing the inequality in the UK, one of the world’s richest countries, opened my eyes to the major issues that the rest of the world face, and my journey into debating and Model United Nations began. I began participating in Sheffield MUN in my first year of university, and it has been a wonderful experience in which I heard many points of view that helped build my own viewpoint. I would like to say a warm welcome to Sheffield, and maybe even the UK. To all of those reading, I hope you enjoy SheffMUN!
Hello! My name is Nick and I’ll be entering my final year of International Relations and Politics this coming autumn. Having served as last year’s Secretary-General, I am extremely excited to see how SheffMUN will challenge like-minded individuals to form solutions on various issues.
As part of my MUN journey, I have had the privilege of participating in both Asian and Western environments. This has greatly helped me to gauge various regional facets as to how conferences are run in different corners of the world. No conference is flawless, and my role as a Special Advisor this year is to provide a bridge between old and new organising committees in order to further develop our beloved conference.
Hi I'm Jody. I was DSG for last year's conference and this year I'll be acting in an advisory role for the new Secretariat. Organising these things are by no means an easy task and this year's no different. However I'm very confident in the capabilities of the Secretariat and I'm sure they will manifest in the form of a truly grand MUN Conference. MUN is a great way to enhance and test many key skills such as public speaking and protect researching and I hope all of this year's delegates will make the most of this fabulous opportunity.

I have been partaking in Model United Nations since the age of 14 and have attended conferences in America, Amsterdam as well as all over the UK. I have been a proud member of the MUN society at the University of Sheffield for the past three years in a range of roles. As a special advisor, I am proud to offer my experience to the conference secretariat and advise on a range of matters for Sheffield International Model United Nations to help with the conference when needed.
